COVID-19 HELP UPDATE:
After receiving generous financial help since making a very personal post asking for help on Instagram, I am asking folks to instead donate to the following links below to help others who are in great need. The post stated I needed help after suddenly losing my bartending job on February 23, 2020, the COVID-19 crisis has made it impossible to find any new service industry work along with losing all freelance income due to cancellations. My community really showed up for me in big ways and because of that, I am now financially stable to take care of myself for the next few weeks until COVID-19 quarantine is over as well as, waiting for government funding and unemployment to kick in. I am immensely grateful and I hope to pay it forward in any way I can.
THAT ALL SAID, I am now advising people to donate directly to the chosen foundations,
gofundme's and other resources folks should donate to OR apply to if they are in need listed below.
I'm dedicating my current website homepage to "COVID-19 HELP" to find everything I will be sharing on Instagram (@meganrainwater - linked below) all in one place in the weeks to come. I hope to share art, photography, videos, music playlists, writings, drawings, poetry, link resources/funding that will directly benefit artists and service industry workers. I'm even looking at giving Photography 101 classes!
This is the place to find it all.
Give me a follow and say hello on Instagram!
National service industry funding and resources for anyone who has lost their job at a closing bar or restaurant.

Providing support for low-income, BIPOC, trans/GNC/NB/Queer artists and freelancers whose livelihoods are being effected by this pandemic in NYC. Whether it's from cancelled gigs, lost jobs, or a lack of business due to coronavirus scares, we hope to orchestrate an egalitarian approach to crowdsourcing.
COVID-19 Freelance Artist Resources:
This list is specifically designed to serve freelance artists, and those interested in supporting the independent artist community. This includes, but is not limited to, actors, designers, producers, technicians, stage managers, musicians, composers, choreographers, visual artists, filmmakers, craft artists, teaching artists, dancers, writers & playwrights, photographers, etc.
Seattle Hospitality Emergency Fund:
"In order to distribute the funds, we've created a short survey to help us prioritize those in our community most at-risk and in need. All information shared remains confidential. Our aim is to provide everyone who applies with emergency funds, but we will prioritize the BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and immunocompromised members of our community. Applicants will be asked to also sign up for unemployment coverage to get a full scope of what support is needed."
SIGN: Act To Suspend NYC Rent & Real Estate Financial Obligations During COVID-19
In this unprecedented COVID-19 crisis, New Yorkers cannot be expected to maintain rent, leases, mortgages, and related tax obligations. This is an urgent call to all city and state officials in New York to 1) Declare all residential tenants, commercial tenants, and property owners are SAFE to remain in their respective situations without fear of retaliation, default, eviction, seizure, arrest, nor deportation of any kind and 2) Temporarily suspend the financial obligations of all people transacting in real estate matters - whether that be residential tenants, commercial tenants, property owners, and government parties.
The Color Code:
This document is a way for people to color code and assess people’s situations during emergencies like COVID-19. This is a living document and as the community adapts this document will as well. These can be communicated through flags, placards, signs, fabrics whatever you have in your own home.
Service Worker's Coalition:
Service workers are drastically affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Please spare your time, money, and/or resources to soften the blow of Brooklyn's service workers who are staying home because they are sick or quarantined. If you are able to continue working from home, please consider donating what you'd spend on restaurant tips for an average week.
(linked below) if you or someone you know is stuck at home and needs our help. Join the grassroots movement!
RWCF COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund:
*Direct money to organizations leading on-the-ground efforts in the restaurant community.
*To bolster our impact investing budget to provide zero-interest loans to businesses to assist in re-opening once this crisis has passed.
*To establish a relief fund for individual workers facing economic hardships or health crises as a direct result of COVID-19.
